The inventory of mouflons in Austria goes back to the time of Empress Maria Theresa! She was the first to introduce mouflons from Corsica and they adapted very well in our mountain regions. In order ensure healthy survival over the centuries, they were repeatedly replenished with fresh Corsican and Sardinian mouflons (e.g: Fürst Metternich / Baron Rothschild etc.)

Hunt
Mouflons are also active during the day. We hunt them in both way, by stalking and by observing from blinds or treestand. The herds are mostly into groups of sheep with lambs and young rams divided. Older rams living alone, in couples or even in small herds – depending of season.

The mouflon ram is a very robust game, so we recommend to use:

Trophy
The authority allows the shooting from mouflon ram in three classes:
- Class 3: ram with 1 year
- Class 2: ram from 2-5 years
- Class 1: ram with 5 or more years
